I only played the PS2 version as well and it seemed fine, I never tried the Xbox version. I sunk tons of time into that and years later I moved and my town had a small arcade with SC2 and I used to play it there as well. It was great also because of the 10 enemies you battle, it would be computer controlled characters which played like others who had registered characters. For one credit you would battle a series of 10 characters for one? round each (IIRC), and at the end you would fight the "mirror" version of yourself, and the character played a lot like you! In the end your wins or losses would go to your army's total and you could take over certain areas of the map. The World Conquest mode allowed you to play a single player game, create a character, and join one of three or four armies. Of course it was great playing with a bunch of highly skilled players in VS mode, but the arcade version had the world conquest mode which did not make it to the home versions. I had never played in the arcade before just on GC but I came to realize the arcade version was great. Well I changed schools and in my new university there was a small arcade and they had a SC2 machine there. And, given that I had the GC version, I could play as LINK! I dont care how good he was I loved to use him. My friend and I were always battling and there was a great single player mode with RPG elements and weapons you could unlock. A couple years later I had a Gamecube and I picked up Soul Calibur 2. I bought a Dreamcast near launch with Soul Calibur 1 and I played a lot. And Soul Calibur 2 to me is the best entry. The art for that cool party game is here, however. Not sure how many SC fans are on GAF but for me this is my clear number 2 fighting game series behind SF. that's because Smash isn't a real fighting (I was all about Heihachi.)įUN FACT: In case you're curious why Super Smash Bros isn't listed under Link's "Other Appearances". so Link's appearance in the game didn't have a huge On a side note: I mainly played the PS2 version. I 2003, was pleasantly shocked when I heard Link was set to appear in the Gamecube version of Soul Calibur 2 as a "old school gamer" has a special place in their heart for Link / Zelda. 25+ years later, I would convince my wife to play through the entire game on her own. Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past was one of the first SNES cartridges I owned. Link's Soul Calibur II storyline is as follows: Once upon a time, He is one of the most iconic and most popular Through the Overworld and its dungeons, Link ultimately vanquishes his enemiesĪnd becomes a legendary hero.
